Letter Regarding Flooding

Friends of the Elkhorn Soccer Club:

We are deeply saddened by the impact the flooding of the Elkhorn River has had on the people and infrastructure of our great community.  Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted and pray for a swift recovery from all of the damage this has created for so many people.

As you know, our James P. McNeil Soccer Complex and the Krejci Soccer Complex, both located along West Maple Road just east of the Elkhorn River, have been engulfed by the flood waters.  It is impossible to predict what the facilities will look like after the waters recede, or when we might be able to get our ESC family back to playing soccer at those venues, but we are determined to stay positive and prepared to deal with any challenges that may be presented to us.

The future for our fields is uncertain, but what is certain is that we will carry on with our mission and vision for our soccer club- we will keep moving forward, always forward- even if just a little bit each day.  In order to do this, we will need the support of our ESC family and Elkhorn-Waterloo-Valley community to get back to full strength.  Please be flexible and understanding as we work through the logistics of moving programs to different locations and adjusting schedules to fit with field availability.  When the time comes, we hope the members of our ESC family are willing to help with the clean-up and rebuilding efforts.  We plan to soldier on and make the Spring 2019 season memorable for everyone involved- we can do this!

As we work to move programming to different venues, we would like to publicly recognize Thrive Space in Waterloo and their owners, Ryan and Traci Gratopp, for graciously offering the use of their gyms and grass field at no charge to the club until we can get back to normal operations.  This speaks volumes for the Gratopp’s and their business, especially since they have only been open for a few months.  We encourage you to show your appreciation to them in any way you can.  We are truly blessed to have a relationship with the Gratopp’s and Thrive Space and cannot thank them enough for their support.

ESC families are encouraged to follow our Twitter and Facebook accounts for the latest information.  Families can also communicate directly with their team coaches and coaching directors.  We will do our best to get information out to you as quickly as possible and do everything in our power to keep disruptions to our programming at a minimum.  Your support and patience is greatly appreciated during this challenging time.

“Proud to be ESC!”
